- Lead and oversee operations related to:
- Housing production and inspection
- Zoning and code enforcement
- Trenton250 Master Plan implementation
- Urban Enterprise Zone programs
- City planning and redevelopment initiatives
- Develop and execute economic development strategies.
- Supervise staff and manage departmental operations, budgets, and interagency coordination.
- Build public-private partnerships, engage with stakeholders, and represent the City in redevelopment efforts.
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Economics, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in urban planning, housing development, or economic development, preferably in a leadership or senior management role.
- Familiarity with New Jersey’s redevelopment laws, municipal operations, and economic development tools.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Relevant Job experience in lieu of education will be accepted.

DIRECTOR OF HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – CITY OF TRENTON, NEW JERSEY – The City of Trenton is seeking a results-driven leader to serve as its Director of Housing and Economic Development. This cabinet-level, at-will position, is critical for driving the City’s strategic efforts in housing production, economic development and revitalization. The Director must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage department staff and drive performance across multiple programs. The ideal candidate will also have a deep understanding of New Jersey redevelopment law and a ability to market and leverage the City’s assets to attract investment and promote sustainable growth. A strong background in urban revitalization, policy implementation, and team leadership is essential.
